Captain Marvel is the name of diverse fictional superheroes existing in Marvel's main shared universe, best known as the Marvel Universe.
Marvel announced, in October 2014, that the entitled Captain Marvel feature film would give prominence to the character Carol Danvers and is set for a July 6, 2018 release until it was later postponed to March 8, 2019. Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve were assigned to write the script yet the movie is still in search for its director - Emily Carmichael and Elizabeth Wood were rumored to be in talks for the film.
Major Carol Danvers first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 in March 1968 as a member of the United States Air Force. She debuted as the first manifestation of Ms. Marvel (Ms. Marvel #1, January 1977) after an alien Kree and human genes coalesced, granting her superhuman powers which occurred in Captain Marvel #18 (November 1969).
Ms. Marvel is a skilled pilot and hand-to-hand combatant. Her current powers include flight, augmented strength, durability and the ability to shoot concussive energy blasts from her hands.
She was labeled as "Marvel's biggest female superhero" and was ranked 11th on IGN's "Top 50 Avengers".
With much being said, the studio surely has a lot of aspects to consider in looking for the right actress to dons Captain Marvel's jumpsuit and innumerable fans have been suggesting names of actresses who should be considered to take on the feminist icon.
However, here are my five picks who, I think, could play Captain Marvel.
5. Teresa Palmer
The 30-year old Australian actress may not be a famous choice for the role but her appearances in the 2011 star-crossed film I Am Number Four as Number Six and as Julie Grigio in the zombie love story Warm Bodies showed beyond doubt that Palmer surely has the charisma and tough demeanor.
Teresa Palmer will be appearing in the upcoming 2016 supernatural horror thriller film Lights Out.
4. Amanda Seyfried
Amanda Seyfried isn't known for badass movies since her lines of work always fall on either romantic comedy or drama. Though she may be an option too risky for Marvel to take, thanks to her performance in the dystopian sci-fi thriller film In Time that she could be a strikingly aggressive chick.
Seyfried recently appeared in the 2016 American-Italian drama film Fathers and Daughters.
3. Blake Lively
She has the hair, the height, the physique and the vehement personality. What could possibly go wrong if Blake Lively is to become our newest Captain Marvel? Just like Amanda Syefried, Blake Lively's field of work doesn't land on the same ground as Ms. Marvel, however, she became a pilot herself when she portrayed the character of Carol Ferris in the 2011 film Green Lantern so it would be nice seeing her maneuvering aircrafts once again and fighting against evil with the Avengers.
2. Natalie Dormer
Natalie Dormer may be considered as the fans' top pick to become Captain Marvel for she has the striking and intimidating personality Ms. Marvel is also known for. The 34-yeard old English actress is best known as Anne Boleyn in The Tudors and in Game of Thrones as Margaery Tyrell.
Dormer starred in the 2016 American supernatural horror film The Forest.
1. Emily Blunt
She has the acting chops, uncompromising yet subtle comportment and her appearances in movies such as Sicario and Edge of Tomorrow only proves that Emily Blunt may probably be the best choice for Captain Marvel. She was even rumored to be in talks for the film (you can click here to read my article about it) still the studio remains tight-lipped in giving details about the movie.
Emily Blunt will play the lead role in the upcoming American mystery thriller drama The Girl on the Train.
The studio still has a plenty of time to choose whether which actress is more sutable to become the Avenger's mightiest female superhero but if the Russo brothers remotely confirmed Captain Marvel's appearance in the first part of Avengers: Infinity War (title will be changed), I guess the studio should probably announce of whoever will take on the role.
