Director Ridley Scott can't seem to stop himself from leaking out drips of information about his latest projects the way that xenomorph blood can't help but acid burn its way through a space ship. This most recent revelation comes straight from the set of Alien: Covenant, the Prometheus sequel starring series newcomer Katherine Waterston as the heroine, Daniels. Thanks to Facebook, we now have the first shot of Waterston on set and in character, looking vaguely familiar. Check it out below:
The caption reads:
Nowhere to run. #AlienCovenant #Daniels
Aside from this picture, we don't really know much about Daniels's character so far. Yet the intimidating idea of having absolutely nowhere to escape to, combined with what might be a weapon at Daniels' side brings back memories of the Ellen Ripley era of the original Alien movies.

What We Know About 'Alien: Covenant' So Far
This shot of Waterston isn't the first peek we've had at Alien: Resurrection. We've also gotten a look at this arm patch featuring the logo of the Covenant ship and the Weyland-Yutani corporation, which will have been fully merged by the the time Covenant begins, 10 years after the events of Prometheus. (For a full timeline of the Alien Universe, go here.)
This picture surfaced on Alien Day (April 26) with the simple caption:
The mission begins. #AlienCovenant #AlienDay426
The lack of cast members, setting, or any other clues in the photo only encourages our imaginations to run even more wild, imagining all the freaky creatures that could be in the works for Alien: Resurrection. Let's hope that Ridley Scott leaks a few more images soon!
The first of two intended sequels for Prometheus, Alien: Resurrection will take place in the year 2103, 19 years before the events of the 1979 Alien movie. The official synopsis for Covenant reads:
Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Michael Fassbender will be reprising his role as sinister David, although it doesn't look like Noomi Rapace is going to be returning at all. You might recognize 36-year-old Katherine Waterston from her roles in Inherent Vice and Steve Jobs, and you'll be able to see her later this year as Porpentina Goldstein in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?
Alien: Covenant is due for release in 2017.
Are you looking forward to seeing Katherine Waterston as Daniels in Alien: Covenant?
