Britney Spears made a name for herself by taunting the censors and Bible Belt alike with provocative videos such as "Toxic" and "Slave 4 U", but the American public was even more outraged in 2007 when her younger sister announced that she was pregnant at the tender age of 16 — out of wedlock.
However, considering that this happened in the same year that Britney shaved off her hair and attacked the paparazzi with an umbrella, one has to question how much attention Jamie Lynn's pregnancy really received.
Nonetheless, the negative backlash had a negative impact on the Zoey 101 star and nine years later, she's finally opened up about her experiences as a teenage mother in a new promo for her upcoming TLC special, When the Lights Go Out.
In the clip, Jamie Lynn breaks down while discussing the moment she discovered her pregnancy.
“They said, ‘Yes, you’re pregnant. I look back now, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh.’”
In the clip, the former teenage mom adds;
"The child star who got pregnant... A lot of horrible, nasty things were said."
Finally, Jamie Lynn looks to the future;
“I wanna do something that I’m gonna be proud of. I’m not just a child star. I’m not just someone’s sister. And I’m not just a teen mom.”
In other news, Jamie Lynn also announced that she has a new single out on June 9, titled “Sleepover”.
