Last season, she became one of the most hated characters on "Game of Thrones" after burning a child alive. This season, you started to like her because she brought back Jon Snow. The bad news is, this could be the end of Melisandre. That's right, season 6 could be the last season for everyone's favorite Red Priestess. Here are a couple reasons.
No pun intended there. But season 6 this year started off by showing viewers something they never thought they'd see (nor want to see). Nobody still has a real idea of what that scene meant for Melisandre or her future, but its possible that this shows that Melisandre's time is limited, and could be up very, very, soon.
Life For A Life
As soon as Jon Snow died last season, everyone figured that Melisandre would use her magic to bring him back. And bring him back she did. But, it seemed like it would be impossible. Even Melisandre didn't think she herself could do it. But she did. Now the question is what is the toll that this is going to take on her? She looks weak as it is, who knows how much more she can take?
There are two people responsible for the death of Renly Baratheon. His brother Stannis, and Melisandre herself. Brienne supposedly executed Stannis in the finale of last season (until I see a body, I will believe he is still alive). And now, the two are riding south together to take out the Boltons. If Melisandre isn't careful, she could find herself in the exact same area as her former king did. Dead.
An Awkward Baby Shower
This one has nothing to do with events that are currently happening in the show. However, Carice Van Houten, who plays Melisandre, appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers back in February, reprising her role in a skit. The skit featured Seth inviting Melisandre to a baby shower. However, the most important part about this is that the year before, Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) appeared in a similar skit with Seth. Later that season, he ended up dead. Now, this could most likely be a coincidence, maybe she was on because she resurrected Jon. However, we know that in TV shows, nothing happens by accident.
In the world of Game of Thrones, it is possible for any main character to die at any point of the show. And, now that the show is finally caught up to the books, it is truly anyone's game at this point. You never know who is going to die next, but there are always signs pointing towards hints as to who it will be.
