Studios have reused footage in their films in the past (remember the Transformers 3/The Island revelation?), and an eagle-eyed YouTuber named Erik Germ has found the latest example.

This quick video points out that Fox's Deadpool actually rehashed some establishing footage from Brett Ratner's ill-received X-Men: The Last Stand.

Check it out:

As Germ points out, this shot in Deadpool is the exact same as it is in The Last Stand, except that the design of the jet has been updated. The scene occurs as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus leave Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in pursuit of the Merc with a Mouth.

It's Nothing New

If you feel shocked by this, you shouldn't! It's a pretty clever tactic by the studio to save some bucks, and it's certainly not a new strategy. It's not all that surprising that no one caught the recycled shot until now, knowing that The Last Stand is largely disregarded in the X-franchise — along with X-Men Origins: Wolverine — so it's easy to see why no one put two and two together right away. Thank you, Eric Germ!

The latest X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse, is currently in theaters, making a killing at the box office, and Deadpool is now available on Blu-ray.
