If you are a fan of Viking gods, David Hasselhoff...and a Kung Fu Hitler - good news! Last year's cult smash Kung Fury is about to get a sequel. Someone call Mr. Miyagi - this time it's personal!

Inspired by '80s cop films and with more bad puns than a Van Damme film, Kung Fury became an instant cult hit and even spawned its own video game. We had always expected a sequel, but now the Swedish writer/director David Sandberg has posted an image to his Instagram, confirming our wildest hopes and dreams. The image shows a bandanna wrapped script, titled Kung Fury II: The Movie, alongside the caption "Today, Kung Fury turns 1...Today, the future is written… Stay tuned."

Running short at just 31 minutes, the blink-and-you'll-miss-it film made waves last year and is described as an "over-the-top action comedy," with “arcade-robots, dinosaurs, nazis, vikings, norse gods, mutants and a super kung fu-cop called Kung Fury." Appearing on YouTube and then Netflix, Kung Fury came from humble Kickstarter beginnings. Crowdfunded through in late December 2013/January 2014, Sandberg smashed his original target of modest $200,000 to reach a more-than impressive $630,019. Melissa Locker of Vanity Fair jokingly called it:

The Best Movie Ever Exclamation Point.

Sandberg had expressed his desire to turn the short into a full length feature film, promising that no footage from the original would be used, but that it would be set in the same universe. So after the fall of the Third Reich, what shall we expect this time around? King Kong? Aliens? An assassin Mother Teresa? You can pretty much throw the rulebook out the window on this one - much like Robert Rodriguez's Machete franchise, anything could happen!
