There's nothing the internet loves more than spotting a mistake in a movie or TV show. However sadly for the folk of net, a picture of an apparent Game of Thrones goof from Episode 4, "The Book of the Stranger," has since been proven fake.

The goof in question apparently came from a scene in Episode 4, when Littlefinger travels to Runestone in the Vale. As you can see by the images below, Baelish is supposedly wearing a very modern-looking watch:

However after some careful investigation by Metro it became obvious that this was no goof, but rather some pretty clever internet trickery. The image used appears to have been taken from a promotional image in which you cannot even see Littlefinger's, well, little fingers:

Another give away that this was the work of a savvy Photoshop user was the fact that Littlefinger's rings from his other hand, which were very noticeable in the episode, are also missing:

It was a good try, internet, but you've been foiled this time! I guess we'll just have to wait for a real-life mistake — like the Downton Abbey Bottle-Gate of 2014 — to come along again.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on Sunday, June 5 with Episode 7, "The Broken Man"

What is your favorite Game of Thrones moment of Season 6 thus far?
