Emily Robison Strayer (Previously Emily Erwin)
Age Now: 43
What Has She Been Up To? After The Dixie Chicks won five Grammys for Taking The Long Way, Emily took some time out to raise her young child along with her sister and Maine who were in a similar situation.
During this time, Emily's first marriage to country singer Charlie Robinson fell apart and she began to process her feelings about the divorce through the medium of songwriting.
Robinson Strayer hoped that the Dixie Chicks would begin writing and touring again, but Natalia Maines wasn't in the right place reform. During a four year absence, Emily sent the songs she wrote to her sister, Martie, and the pair eventually formed a side project.
The Court Yard Hounds saw Robison Strayer stepping up to the mic as lead vocalist and she also wrote all but one of the songs on their debut album.
Emily has since remarried musician Martin Strayer and they have one daughter together named Violet Isabel Strayer who was born in 2012. The songwriter also has three children with her former husband named Charles Augustus (born 2002) and twins Julianna Tex and Henry Benjamin (born 2005).
Martie Maguire (Previously Martie Erwin)
Age Now: 46
What Has She Been Up To? Martie Maguire's story largely follows the same path as her younger sister above in terms of the progression of her professional career.
In terms of personal life, Maguire has been married twice and she split with her last husband, a Roman Catholic teacher and actor from Ireland named Gareth Maguire in 2013.
Martie has been very vocal about the struggles that she went through to concieve her children and her experiences with IVF and has fought to battle the stigma against women who cannot become pregnant 'naturally,' she explained:
"I think we feel a responsibility to break down some barriers. It's much more of a common problem than people realize."
Despite her fertility problems, Maguire went on to have three daughters with her second husband, Twins Eva Ruth and Kathleen 'Katie' Emilie (born 2004) and Harper Rosie (born 2008).
Age Now: 41
What Has She Been Up To? The self-identified rebel of the group, Maines released a solo album entitled 'Mother' in 2013 after the Dixie Chicks hiatus began in 2007.
Probably best known for her comments about being ashamed that the then president, George W. Bush was from her native Texas. She told crowds in London that:
"Just so you know, we're on the good side with y'all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas."
This throwaway sentence angered some of the American public so much that Maines received death threats and boycotts from certain radio stations.
Maines later clarified her statement to make it clear that while she supports American troops and is proud of her national identity, she was against the idea of innocent lives being lost, she said:
"I feel the president is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world. ... My comments were made in frustration and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view. ... While we support our troops, there is nothing more frightening than the notion of going to war with Iraq and the prospect of all the innocent lives that will be lost."
Maines's band mates both stood by her during the turbulent time.
Maine's has been married twice and she has two sons with her second husband, Adrian Pasdar, who she met at Emily Robison Strayer's wedding. Her sons are named Jackson Slade Pasdar (born 2001) and Beckett Finn Pasdar (born 2004).
But What Do They Look Like As A Band?
