I've been very lucky to have been friends with artist Ariel Medel since we were kids, he has always been an awesome illustrator, and I've always been a fan of his. In the last couple of years he has been on a steady rise to stardom, going from independent horror comics to John Carter: Warlord of Mars' to his latest hit comic, the new adaptation to the beloved TV Series character, 'Xena: Warrior Princess'. I'm pretty sure he will be drawing your favorite superheroes in the near future.
A couple of years ago two of my webcomics went viral, both homages to the most iconic superheroes in comics, 'Batman: The Deal' and 'Superman: God's End', which gave me the opportunity (thanks in large to Ariel) to debut in print with 'Grimm Tales of Terror # 9', a love letter to 80's slasher films. So it was natural that we would want to work together, the trick was finding the right project.
I knew the art would be fantastic, so the story had to be epic, I came up with the idea to form a sort of Ancient Justice League, Ariel loved the idea, and that's how GODHEADS was born.
GODHEADS follows the story of Eximius, son of an alien who artificially impregnated a human woman ahead of an imminent invasion, He has being instructed by his biological father to form a team of the planet’s most powerful warriors to defeat the astronauts and free his people.
It takes place in a fantasy world where all ancient human myths are put into a blender, where a Samurai can co-exist (and fight side by side with) an Inca Warrior, it's epic, fun and action packed.
We are currently running an IndieGoGo campaign to help us finish the comic, so if 'Justice League meets 300', or 'The Avengers meets Game of Thrones' sounds cool to you, please check it out.
Finally, some of you may know about my horror scores and overall obsession with soundtracks, so I would like to share with you a track that was deeply in my mind while I was writing GODHEADS, if made into a movie, I would definetely see this as the 'main theme'.
Please let me know if you liked it in the comments section below and follow me on Twitter for the latest updates on 'Godheads' and other projects I'm working on. Thank you for reading!
