Coming in October, J.A. Bayona's A Monster Calls, inspired by the book of the same name by Patrick Ness, is already starting to ensnare the hearts and minds of audiences around the world — myself included. Focus Pictures recently released a full length trailer for the film, and just as expected from the director of The Impossible, it's nothing short of breathtaking. Take a look...

Including an all-star cast of Academy Award nominees like Sigourney Weaver and Felicity Jones, the cast also has the vocal prowess of Academy Award winner Liam Neeson as the titular monster, and newcomer Lewis MacDougall as young Connor. The film was written by author Patrick Ness.

Just from that trailer, I can guess the director is taking his source material to the T. Having read the book (which I highly recommend) I can already say there's several scenes (especially the big one with Sigourney Weaver) that'll bring even the strongest of wills crumbling in tears.

“A young boy (Lewis MacDougall) escapes into a fantasy world of monsters and fairy tales as a way to cope with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and bullies at school.”

Though originally expected to debut in theaters on October 14, 2016, the film has been pushed a week later and will now be released on Friday October 21st. Make sure to bring a tissue (or a box) with you if you plan to see it. I know I needed one just to read the book.
