In a surprising revelation to many fans, Marvel's Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada, has stated his belief that Namor's rights are home at Marvel Studios. When asked whether Marvel Studios owned the rights to the first mutant, Quesada replied: "As far as I know, yeah, we do. He also stated that Namor's rights are "not at Fox, not at Sony."

Previously, Kevin Feige — head of Marvel Studios — had said that Namor's movie rights were quite complicated. Past speculations have involved the character being tied with Universal, or under Fox's umbrella due to his mutant status.

Even more interesting was Quesada's response to Smith's inquiry about possible upcoming appearances by the King of Atlantis. "I cannot confirm or deny, sir." Given the nature and reputation of the statement, it seems likely that he is at very least in consideration.

Namor's inclusion would open a variety of possibilities that were less likely before, including content focused on the Invaders, the Illuminati, or the Cabal, among others.
