Jessica Alba might have made her name as a sizzling hot siren on screen, but the 35-year-old actor has admitted that she found the juxtaposition with her real life as an "awkward" virgin hard to deal with sometimes.
In a new interview with In Style magazine, Alba remembers the excruciating experience of doing "sexy" photoshoots when she had literally no experience on the matter, she explained:
"My sexuality made me very uncomfortable. I remember my first Maxim shoot, they were telling me to pose a certain way, and I was like, 'Agh! I'm 19. I'm a virgin. I don't even know how to do that.' It was so awkward."
Alba went on to explain how she found it hard to adopt the overtly sexualized image that she was pressured to step into because she was a tomboy at heart who would never naturally present herself that way. She told interviewers:
"I was into wearing Triple Five Soul baggy cargo pants. I would get Hanes tank tops and dye them with Rit dye and wear Nike sports bras and sweatshirts. It was the opposite of sexy."
Jessica also explained how she wasn't entirely pleased with the direction of her career as she never had any intentions of being seen as a "sex symbol," she wrote:
I sort of went through a life crisis. I was like, 'This isn't what I set out to be. I'm so much more than this, but I don't know how not to be a sex symbol.'
Poor Jessica! Don't feel like it's your fault that you were only chosen for provocative roles, it's the casting agents who are to blame for not being able to see past your surface beauty. But, who's laughing now she's one of the wealthiest self-made women in the world, eh?
