1. Her name isn't Brie Larson

Her real name is Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers.

2. She was almost a teen pop star

In 2005, 10 years before her Oscar win for Best Actress, Larson released an album through Universal called Finally Out Of P.E., which featured such memorable, bubblegum poprock hits such as 'Ugly,' 'Invisible Girl,' and 'She Said.' Sadly (or luckily) the album didn't do so well, and fortunately for us she turned her sights on acting instead.

3. She has not spoken to her father in over 10 years

In an interview with E!, Larson opened up about her parent's divorce and her tumultuous relationship with her father, stating:

"When legally I didn't have to have visitation with him anymore, I jumped on it. As a kid I tried to understand him and understand the situation. But he didn't do himself any favors. I don't think he ever really wanted to be a parent. It wasn't until truly recently that I realized that's why so much of my work was so volatile."

4. She co-starred in the unaired pilot for 'Hope & Faith'

But was dropped. The show was then recast and ran from 2003 to 2006.

5. Even though she won the Oscar in 2016 for 'Room,' she was still fairly unknown

Most people remember her from supporting roles in 21 Jump Street and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. She even had a tiny role playing a Six Chick alongside Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars) in the (iconic) movie 13 Going On 30.

6. She is currently engaged to Alexander Greenwald

Who is better known as the lead singer of Phantom Planet. Californiiiaaaaaaaaaaaa. Anyone?

7. Apparently she is totally "leaning towards playing" Captain Marvel!

Mr. A. Source has apparently spoken to Variety, who are reporting that Larson is the frontrunner for the role, stating:

“It is unknown where things stand in negotiations, but sources have told Variety that Larson is the first choice, and that she’s leaning toward playing the part.”

However, io9 interviewed Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege, who said:

“[You’ll have] a filmmaker and cast by the summer, maybe before. Maybe after. Filmmaker announcement first.”

Marvel have yet to make an official announcement.

8. But she didn't know who Captain Marvel was until last year!

In this adorable interview with MTV for a Room press junket, Larson finds out thats fans want her to be their Captain Marvel... which she confuses with Captain America.

Is Brie Larson your Captain Marvel?
