So far, we honestly have little information about David Ayer's Suicide Squad. One of the biggest mysteries is that we don't yet know who the main villain will be. We already know two potential villains the Squad might face, including Jared Leto's Joker and Cara Delevingne's Enchantress, but it's unclear whether those two will be antagonists all the way through or if they'll join forces with Task Force X to take down a bigger common enemy.
In a new interview with Total Film magazine grabbed by Comic Book Movie, Ayer dropped some tantalizing new clues about who we might expect to see as the film's Big Bad. We already got a glimpse of them in the most recent trailers, but Ayer reveals he refers to them as "The Eyes of the Adversary."
So who are the Eyes of the Adversary? No clue. They're not in the DC comics, at least, not by that name. And it's entirely possible that it's not a proper title, but simply a reference to their function in the film and relationship to the main antagonist. Either way, Ayer has promised that no one will be safe when they go up against the spooky, militarized crew.
Producer Charles Roven added some further details:
"Let's just say, when they're called in to do this mission by Amanda [Waller], these are one of the things they encounter. They don't know how they got here, but they're weird and dangerous and yet they're wearing military uniforms."
So all that really does is raise more questions without really answering any. The mystery grows. If you have any knowledge of this or suspect you know who the villain might be from the context clues, feel free to share it with me in the comments.
