With an interesting history, the house has been the center of controversy for over 40 years now. In 1974, 23-year-old Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and killed his parents, two younger brothers and two younger sisters while they slept inside the house. A year later, the Lutz family moved in. A mere 28 days later, the Lutz family fled the house claiming stories of paranormal activity. Their stories were turned into the best-selling book "The Amityville Horror" by Jay Anson, as well as, the 1979 blockbuster film of the same name. Since then, the film franchise has spawned of countless sequels and reboots. Within the next year alone, the Amityville tale will be portrayed in The Conjuring 2 and Amityville: Awakening.
