Batman might not be the only Justice League member to have a cameo in Suicide Squad. The best speedster ever could be running in.
How Suicide Squad Fits With The Justice League
Chances are, if you've been to the movies or on the internet lately, you've heard of the upcoming, highly-anticipated Warner Bros. film Suicide Squad, where a group of criminals with special abilities are forced by the government to go on mission to save the world. It takes place in the same world as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, frequently referred to as the DC Extended Universe.
Many of the characters in Suicide Squad are characters who have fought against or beside Batman. There's Joker, Harley Quinn, Katana, and Killer Croc. There is one member of the Suicide Squad that is a Flash adversary: Captain Boomerang a.k.a. Digger Harkness.
If you watch CW's The Flash, you may have seen him in the Flash/Arrow crossover killing people with his deadly boomerangs. Now, Jai Courtney steps into the DC Extended Universe as the young Australian villain.
Flash Could Have a Cameo in Suicide Squad
A rumor has arisen from the site The Geek Mafia that Flash has a quick cameo in Suicide Squad.
According sources here at The Geek Mafia, Ezra Miller’s Flash will be making a cameo in 'Suicide Squad.' "The character is seen when Captain Boomerang is introduced, and serves as part of his origin story."
This would be a smart way to introduce Boomerang as well as The Flash and show how the Suicide Squad is part of a bigger world. Even though The Geek Mafia is not exactly the most credible site, this cameo would make sense, given the hero/villain relationship of the two characters.
The Metahuman Files Contain More Videos of The Flash
If you remember from Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman got full access to Lex's metahuman files, thanks to Bruce Wayne. One in particular showed Ezra Miller as Barry Allen stopping a robbery at a convenience while buying milk. There were many other videos she could have clicked for Flash, proving that The Flash has been active as Central City's guardian angel. It is extremely likely that he ran into Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang at one point.
Reshoots for Suicide Squad May Have Been to Add The Cameo
When news of reshoots hit the web, most reacted negatively because it came with the false rumor that the reshoots were meant to add fun that Devin Faraci claimed was not originally in the movie. That was not the case at all.
As director David Ayer revealed to Collider, reshoots were done because he wanted a new set piece, and Warner Bros. was willing to give him that.
"If they don’t like your movie they tend to not want to invest in it. If they love your movie, they give you what you want. And I don’t think there’s any director that finishes a movie and says, ‘Wow that’s perfect, that’s what I really want it to be.’ Every movie I’ve ever made I wish I could go and grab some additional stuff and that’s exactly the chance I got this time. It’s like getting a new car but you get fancy rims and a new stereo.
There’s a lot of imagery, there’s a lot of nods, and there’s a lot of Easter Eggs."
Could those "fancy rims and a new stereo" mean showing how the criminals were captured and sent to Belle Reve? And more importantly, was Ezra Miller involved with these reshoots? Ezra Miller has no known social media accounts, so it is quite possible that he was at the reshoot location in costume and none of the fans knew.
Of course, take this rumor with a big grain of salt, but just know that this is definitely a possibility.
As we wait for DC's next film, be sure to check out The Flash Rebirth #1 coming this week, and all the other awesome issues with a staggered release over summer.
