Chris Evans was certainly not shy at Wizard World Philly this weekend when voicing his opinion on who should play the next Captain, Captain Marvel, to come into the Marvel cinematic universe! Rumors began to surface last week that Oscar winner Brie Larson was being sought after to play the revered female comic book hero in Marvel's upcoming stand-alone Captain Marvel film, and fans were all over social media praising the idea and hoping it comes true. Well, fans weren't the only ones excited by Larson potentially landing the role!

Captain America himself, Chris Evans, was asked about the chance that Larson will be cast by a fan and Wizard World Philly, and just like us, he wants it bad! Chris and Brie starred together in 2009's Scott Pilgrim vs The World, and he's a huge fan of the Oscar winner! Chris answered:

“I just heard about that. I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in ’09, ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’.”

Evans continued:

"I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she's phenomenal."

We REALLY hope it happens too, Chris! Brie must be on cloud 9 having Captain America himself give her his blessing! Larson has yet to comment on the rumors, but they haven't been denied either. Chances are she is really being circled for the role, and they are mid-negotiations with the actress on salary and schedule. Personally, I think Brie would make an AMAZING Captain Marvel, and bring a lot to the character needed to bring it from page to screen. Brie is no pampered Hollywood starlet, she's been working hard in the industry for over 15 years to get where she is, and she showed her incredible strength as a powerhouse actress in the film, Room, this year, which deservedly won her an Oscar. The actress who brings Captain Marvel to life needs to have that strength, and fans are hoping the film does not portray Captain Marvel as a measly sex symbol, which comic book films can often do to beloved female comic characters.

I have to say, having Chris on board makes me want to see Brie in the role even more than I did before! Hey Chris, you've got some say at Marvel, right? Send them a note, make it happen Captain!

'Captain Marvel' is set for a March 8th, 2019 release!
