Don’t worry, you will not see Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow from the CW’s Arrow appear in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles installment.
The Man Under The Green Hood
While this might not be Stephen Amell’s first big screen appearance, it’s his first theatrical appearance after gaining success from his hit CW television show, Arrow. With the fourth season of Arrow ending last month I am part of the generation of viewers that was introduced to Stephen Amell first as the man under the green hood, so at first I found it peculiar and a bit odd when I saw Amell as Casey Jones in the first few trailers of TMNT: Out of the Shadows.
At first I was not convinced that Amell was a great choice for Casey Jones, and I was worried that the cool and “chillax” character from the TMTN animated series was going to turn out dark and “fail his city”.
Amell has dominated the role of the Green Arrow to such a great extent that it was hard for me to picture him playing a role completely different in style from his portrayal of Oliver Queen. But I was wrong.
Casey Jones, You Have Not Failed This Movie
Having practically the same fun and entertaining tone from the first movie, the one aspect that actually brought Out of the Shadows from “just a sequel” to “way better than the first one” was Amell. In a totally different persona from Oliver Queen, the Casey Jones character portrayed by Amell is definitely what you would expect if you are a lover of the TMNT animated series from the early 2000s, or the Ninja Turtles in general.
Though he didn’t utilize Jones’ long dark hair, Stephen Amell got everything else right. His chemistry on screen with Megan Fox was also remarkable, and you will find no Ollicity there either.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is now playing in theaters worldwide.
