It seems like 2016 is the year determined to take our cultural icons from us, and none of the losses were felt more than that of David Bowie, who passed away on January 10 after an 18-month-long battle with liver cancer. Today, his wife Iman posted a picture to her official Instagram account in loving tribute to her late husband on what would have been their 24th wedding anniversary.
Though she's active on her IG account, it's the first picture that the supermodel has posted of the two of them together since Bowie's death. The photo is a shot of the pair by legendary photographer Bruce Weber from their 1995 photoshoot for Vogue.
It's a beautiful shot of the transcendental couple, whose love story, in the world of celebrity where nothing seems to last, was an inspiration to the world. Bowie and Iman had been together since 1990, when they met at a mutual friend's dinner party. They wed two years later in Florence, Italy and had one daughter, Alexandria, in 2000.
The couple had been through quite a bit over their two-and-a-half decades of marriage. Though their style changed up often, they were always somehow elegant and timeless in both words and action. It was a lovely tribute from Iman to her late husband and their #foreverlove. Hopefully she's finding more joy on this day than sadness.
