From Captain America, to Prince Eric, to the "Whitest Jett" in West Side Story, Chris Evans surprises us with what he'd like his dream role to be.
During a panel at Wizard World Philadelphia comic convention, Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America) and his Marvel co-stars Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier) and Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Falcon) answered miscellaneous questions in front of thousands of fans. For example:
Which role ever imaginable would the Team Cap actors wish to be cast as?
While the actors joked about how Chris Evans would like to be cast as Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid (which is ironic considering the hot topic of the movie's upcoming remake and the live-performance concert of the Disney film that very weekend).
Evans stated that although he is a big Disney fan, Prince Eric was not his choice of dream role. However, his real answer was just as surprising:
"They've always been flirting with the idea of doing a remake of 'West Side Story.' I always thought that would be cool, I grew up watching the movie and liked it a lot. Some role in that would be cool."
Mackie didn't miss a heartbeat before interjecting with a joke about how Evans would be "the whitest Jett." Evans jokingly retorted that him and Riff are basically the same person.
Sebastian Stan's answer was also interesting, but also slightly more predictable:
"I gotta redo '48 Hrs.' with Anthony [Mackie]. I've gotta find something like that."
Stan seems to enjoy sticking to action, but Chris Evans's choice shines light on the variation of genres he may transgress for future roles. Unfortunately, he's announced in the past that he plans to retire once his Marvel contract terminates.
Perhaps if he got offered a part in West Side Story, he'd be willing to make an exception? What if we say "pretty please?"
