We all love Britt Robertson. Whether you watched her in the short-lived-but-amazing Life Unexpected or the also short-lived-but-amazing The Secret Circle, the actress has been a major part of our TV screens for quite some time now. Well that's not going to change anytime soon, as it was just announced that she has been cast in the lead role in Netflix's upcoming series Girlboss.
Girlboss will be a 13 episode comedy and a Netflix original series - something the streaming service has been doing very successfully lately. It is inspired by the bestseller #Girlboss - an autobiography of Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso. Britt Robertson will star in the series as Amoruso, who is “a rebellious, broke anarchist who refuses to grow up. She stumbles upon her passion of selling vintage clothes online and becomes an unlikely businesswoman. As she builds her retail empire, she realizes the value and the difficulty of being the boss of her own life.”
Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon will serve as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Charlize Theron, Laverne McKinnon and Sophia Amoruso herself. The filming for the series will commence this month and Netflix will produce it.
Like I said, Britt Robertson has been a recurring presence on both TV and film for the past few years. Aside from Life Unexpected and The Secret Circle, she has also starred in Under the Dome as well as film roles in The First Time, Tomorrowland and The Longest Ride. Expect to see her next year in Mr. Church and The Space Between Us. I will most certainly be looking forward to seeing her return our screens when Girlboss debuts on Netflix.
