Tom Cruise is set to return as another adventure-prone action hero — nope, not Ethan Hunt. This time it's author Lee Child's military investigator Jack Reacher in the sequel to Christopher McQuarrie's 2012 eponymous film.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is the second Reacher flick, but based on the 18th Jack Reacher novel, published in 2013, wherein Jack returns to his former military base and finds himself the suspect of a murder that's nearly 20 years old. The first Reacher film was based on the ninth book in Child's wildly successful series, One Shot.
People magazine has revealed the first images from the sequel, featuring Cruise and co-star Cobie Smulders.
Never Go Back is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Edward Zwick, who previously worked with Cruise on 2003's The Last Samurai.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is set for release on October 21.
