The boulder has finally got rolling on Disney's Indiana Jones 5, but how much do we know about the upcoming action romp so far?

Below is a quick roundup of the information we have so far about our favorite stubble-sporting, fedora wearing adventurer, but first let's imbibe in some heady nostalgia, shall we?

Will Harrison Ford Reprise His Iconic Role?

After a wave of rumors that actors such as Robert Pattinson or Chris Pratt could be taking up Indie's iconic whip, Disney finally confirmed that Harrison Ford will reprise his role three months.

Steven Spielberg joked that he really wanted to get Ford back on board to stir up competition with Tom Hanks and lure him back into more projects, he joked:

"Now, I’ll probably do an Indy 5 with Harrison, [so] it’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom…I’ve got to make another one with Tom, that’ll be five for Tom, five for Harrison. And I think I’m going to leapfrog that way for the rest of my career. With Daniel Day-Lewis in everything else!"

Harrison Ford himself spoke out about donning his iconic sable fedora once more and made it clear that he is joining the project because he believes it will be top quality, he said:

"I've always thought there was an opportunity to do another. But I didn't want to do it without Steven [Spielberg]. And I didn't want to do it without a really good script. And happily we're working on both. Steven is developing a script now that I think we're going to be very happy with."

Is There Any Other Casting News Yet?

So far, the casting list on IMDB is a pretty dark and lonely place because it only features Harrison Ford. Hopefully there will be some more announcements to keep him company soon.

At the moment, the only names connected to the project are director Steven Spielberg, acclaimed composer John Williams, screenwriter David Koepp along with producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall.

Reenlisting Koepp as screenwriter has been controversial thanks to the noxious cloud of disappointment surrounding Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which he also penned.

Fans should fear not though, Koepp was working from a loose storyline formulated by George Lucas last time so a lot of the weaker moments in the script were not entirely his fault. To give you a taste of his other work, David penned Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and Spider-Man.

What Will Indy's Newest Adventure Be?

It isn't known how far along Steven Spielberg and David Koepp are in developing the script, but seeing as they have three years to work on it, it's probably in its infancy.

In short, comments about the storyline are few and far between. Earlier this year, president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy also said that they haven't started working on the script.

When Will Indiana Jones 5 Be Released?

The release date for the latest adventure is July 19, 2019.
