Wondering what kind of zombie-filled move you can watch while you wait for Season 7 of The Walking Dead to start? You might want to read this first!
There's a lesson that every person who loves their television shows and movies learns over the course of their binge-watching life. If you like a movie or show, and want to continue taking it seriously, you might not want to watch its spoof. If you do, you run the risk of it destroying your ability to take the original seriously ever again!
Remember what Scary Movie did to Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer? How could you forget when Not Another Teen Movie straight up murdered Varsity Blues, American Pie, Can't Hardly Wait, and She's All That? Of course, it's not like those original comedies needed to be taken too seriously to start with. Nonetheless, no amount of Jennifer Love Hewitt hotness can erase the image of Cindy Campbell and that over-the-top dumb final scene.
And how could you ever watch Varsity Blues again after seeing Captain America in a whipped cream bikini?
With all that in mind, here are nine zombie spoofing movies you most definitely do not want to watch while waiting for Season 7 of The Walking Dead to begin!
1. The Walking Deceased
This one is right at the top of the list. If you're convinced that Rick and Daryl are immortal badasses on The Walking Dead, you might want to steer clear of this one. It's not a bad movie, it's just that...well, look at the size of Daryl's crossbow. Just look at it!
2. House of the Dead
This is one of those video game movies that's as close to being universally hated as a movie can get. Every movie review site you look at will tell you the same thing; do NOT watch this movie.
There are a few videos on YouTube claiming to be the official movie trailer, so I'm not sure which one is actually it. Check out the best of the worst!
As if the goofy title and tagline wasn't enough, when people get bit by the zombie beavers, they turn into zombie beaver people themselves.
If you do give into temptation and watch this, please prepare yourself for a LOT of beaver jokes, like “Beavers are generally more active at night.”
4. through 8. Any of the five Return of the Living Dead movies
If the fact that they're all zombie comedies isn't enough to dissuade you from watching them, then the subtitle of the fifth movie, “Rave to the Grave,” should do the trick.
Here's the trailer for that masterpiece!
9. Gangs of the Dead
Originally called Last Rites, this is another rotten stinker of a movie. It's not meant to be a comedy, but it really comes off like one. The part that might ruin zombies for you isn't so much the zombies themselves, but just how bad this movie is! Its only saving grace is that Noel Gugliemi stars in it.
He's played the angry Hispanic gangster in pretty much every movie that has needed an angry Hispanic gangster in it. Even Bruce Almighty! You know you remember his scene involving a little anal dwelling butt monkey.
Check out the trailer below! Admittedly, it'd be a whole lot better with that butt monkey, though...
Shaun of the Dead
There are a few movies in the safe zone, for whatever reasons. Like Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead is a zom-com you can watch without it ruining how you feel about zombie shows or movies. I've personally seen Shaun and Ed throw records at that zombie a dozen times, and I'm still loving The Walking Dead!
