WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from Season 6, Episode 8 of Game of Thrones. If you haven't watched it yet, then I'd strongly advise you to return to the previous page. Quick, before the masters arrive!
This weeks episode of Game of Thrones proved to be an eventful episode for the residents of Meereen as the masters of Slavers Bay launched an attack on the great city. If we remember correctly, Grey Worm previously advised Tyrion to be wary of the masters and unfortunately he was right. But all hope is not lost - as the great city lies in ruin, Daenerys makes her triumphant return. But how will she react to the happenings in her once great city?
Is she angry with Tyrion?
Dany hasn't been in seen in Meereen ever since Drogon flew her safety at the end of the last season. Now she has returned and even though she is bound for Westeros, she will undoubtedly try to clean up the mess in Meereen before she attempts to take the Seven Kingdoms. The look on her face during her epic return said it all - she appears unhappy with her confidantes. She seems disappointed and perhaps a little angry.
In her absence Tyrion has managed to revive slavery - a practice that Dany has often expressed her hate for. He angered the masters which has now led to the attack on Meereen, and lets not forget that he freed Dany's other two dragons: Viserion and Rhagal. Dany is very protective of her children and if we remember back to the fourth season, she locked them up because they were getting out of control. It'll be interesting to see how Dany reacts to finding out that they're no longer in chains. Varys, who has been supporting Tyrion in his attempts to rule Meereen, has now left Tyrion in the hope of finding ships.
What will Dany do?
It's clear from her expression that Dany is displeased that her trusted companions have allowed Meereen to descend into chaos. Unfortunately, Tyrion has inadvertently put her in an awkward situation and she's going to need to think on her feet to prevent this war from getting out of hand. As she has already started to set the wheels in motion to move on to Westeros, perhaps dealing with the masters and their war will be a great opportunity for Dany to prove her worth and potential as a ruler. She's reigned successfully over Meereen for a lengthy period of time but the masters have been a thorn in her side since her arrival in the city. Now is the opportunity for Dany to rid the great city of the horrid masters once and for all - perhaps abolishing slavery in the process.
Dany has learnt much during her time at Vaes Dothrak and also managed to obtain the army that she needs to take Westeros - the Dothraki khalasar. So, if we assume that the dothraki's arrival in Meereen in imminent, then the masters will rue the day they crossed Daenerys Stormborn.
What happens next?
Lets not forget that Yara and Theon Greyjoy are planning on heading to Meereen to meet Dany. Also, the two are being hunted by their uncle Euron, who is also setting sail for Meereen with a thousand ships, which is conveniently the amount of ships that Dany needs to make it to Westeros. This insinuates that we may see Dany stay in Meereen for a little while longer. If she does stay, then she will probably attempt to restore Meereen to it's former glory.
Dany gets more and more confident with each passing episode, and I cannot wait to see how this storyline plays out. The masters had better watch their back - the Mother of Dragons has returned!
