The League follows a group of friends in Chicago that are in a fantasy football league together that take every opportunity to win and make each other's life miserable. Running from 2009-2015 on FX, the show was a hit with football and comedy fans alike. It had numerous cameo appearances from the NFL's greatest, including J.J Watt, Marshawn Lynch, and even Josh Cribbs! With NFL season right around the corner, I'm going to have withdrawals from The League. Here's what our favorite fantasy players have been up to since the end of the show.
Mark Duplass / Pete Eckhart
Mark Duplass works as a film making team with his brother, Jay. Recently Duplass played as a serial killer in Creep. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. As opposed to his character Pete's witty humor in The League, he transforms his psyche and mannerisms to a complete psycho and is "creepy", pun intended. Most recently he lent his voice to two episodes of Animals.
Jonathan Lajoie / Taco
Lajoie first came into the public eye in 2008 on YouTube with his music, under the alias MC Vagina. Crude and ridiculous humor captured peoples attention and a year later he was cast as everyone's favorite Taco. Since The League though he hasn't appeared in much. Just in the dark comedy Moments of Clarity. When we we get to see this man again?
Nick Kroll / Rodney Ruxin
Everyone calls him Ruxin. Nick Kroll is constantly busy acting or lending his voice. He has numerous films coming out like, Sausage Party, Sing and Captain Underpants! You can bet he'll be around for time to come and hopefully he'll get another show!
Stephen Rannazzisi / Kevin MacArthur
Rannazzisi hasn't done much since The League, except an episode of New Girl. Most recently in 2015 he tweeted an apology about his claims of being at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. He said he had been there for work and narrowly escaped the attacks, rushing out the building and to the street moments before the second plane hit. With the controversy circling him and the hate he has received, it's questionable if we will be seeing much more of Rannazzisi.
Paul Scheer / Andre Nowzick
Paul Scheer has been in the business since 1998, and has his share of writing, producing and acting credits. Since The League, he has been busy with roles in Drunk History, Daddy's Home, and most recently in Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. He's currently writing an untitled movie, in which a couple struggles to find balance in their relationship with children, parents and each other.
Katie Aselton / Jenny MacArthur
Aselton started in short films directed by her husband Mark Duplass (Pete) and eventually got to act together numerous times. She has lent her voice in the show Animals. and has a movie releasing next January called Bastards, starring Owen Wilson and Ed Helms. Hopefully we'll get to see her and Duplass together again soon!
Jason Mantzoukas / Rafi
Mantzoukas was only a supporting character there for raunchy humor and in your face laughter but stole the show almost every scene he was in. He had a role in Dirty Grandpa, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Animals., but doesn't have anything currently in the works. I'm sure we'll see more of this man soon. Hopefully his brain biscuits are turning!
What do we do now?
The League streams on Netflix, so you can always re-watch and enjoy every minute of it over again. I know my buddies and I have already watched it twice and when football season gets here probably another glorious round. It'll be a marathon! A mara-what?
What will you miss most about The League? What was your favorite moment?
