With such an outspoken, passionate cast, it's no surprise that we've been getting frequent updates on the production of Fast 8 ever since it began filming in April.
From shooting in Cuba, Iceland and even Cleveland, so far the eighth installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise looks absolutely jam-packed with action sequences that'll blow audiences' collective minds. With a filming schedule taking cast members to such disparate locations, work on the film is far from done. In the spirit of sharing, the Fast & Furious Facebook page recently posted a live video taking us behind the scenes for a tour of the Fast 8 autos!
Vehicle coordinator Dennis McCarthy led the 15-minute tour of his "automotive Valhalla," which gave us a sneak peek at some of the cars used in the film, in addition to a guest appearance from Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris! Check out the full tour, and then take a look at some of the highlights below:
How amazing do those cars look? Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Audi, Ford, Chevrolet — pick any dream car and Fast 8 has it! Altogether the cars shown in the video are worth around $17 million.
But not only did McCarthy give us a great automotive tour, he also hinted at the plot of Fast 8. Firstly, he talked about quasi-military operations taking place in the warehouse, pointing out an intense-looking Fast Attack Vehicle:
He also mentioned that in the film, many of the vehicles made their way into the warehouse after being seized from "drug dealers and other bad guys."
Next up, we got a glimpse of a totally blacked-out helicopter — will we see another air-based stunt in Fast 8?
After a cameo from Ludacris, McCarthy revealed that his character Tej's car will be a Mercedes AMG GT S:
Meanwhile, Roman (Tyrese Gibson) will be driving a turbo-charged Bentley Continental GT:
And lastly, we were shown a $1 million boat that is capable of speeds of more than 170 mph! McCarthy also mentioned that this was a boat that you'd want for the Florida Keys and, given the fact that Fast 8 has been filming in Cuba, I think we might have just learned exactly how the characters make it over to the island nation.
What a tour!
Fast 8 is being directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and is set to have an all-star cast including the aforementioned Diesel, Rodriguez, Gibson and Ludacris, as well as Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, and Nathalie Emmanuel, who will all reprise their roles from previous films in the franchise. In addition to those familiar faces, Fast 8 will also welcome Charlize Theron, Kristofer Hivju and Scott Eastwood into the family.
Fast 8 zooms into theaters on April 14, 2017.
