For a character pejoratively dubbed 'The Beauty', Brienne of Tarth has been causing some skipping beats in the hearts of the Westerosi brutes in Game of Thrones lately. With the internet going wild over Brienne and Tormund possibly being an item, this week's episode of Game of Thrones brought back some deep emotions during Brienne's and Jaime Lannister's reunion.

Since they first paired up back in Season 2, Brienne and Jaime had this weird chemistry. It later translated into something more, even if Brienne and Jaime refused to acknowledge it. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays the Kingslayer – and Brienne's heart throb – Jaime Lannister, spoke to IGN about last Sunday's episode and what Jaime actually feels for 'The Beauty'.

For starters, he pinpoints the exact moment things moved from dislike and disrespect to a strong feeling of fondness between the two. Back in Season 3, Jaime and Brienne shared a bath - a quite revealing bath - and he opened up to her about killing the Mad King and why he killed him.

“That was an act of love, I think, and it is an act of love when you open up to someone and for the other one to then literally embrace you is beautiful.”

Jaime and Brienne may come from different backgrounds and hold different beliefs, but they have also come to realize they’re more alike than they initially thought. By the time Jaime gifts Brienne with her new Valyrian Steel sword, Oathkeeper, their bond is way beyond friendship. In this week's Game of Thrones, Brienne tries to give Jaime his sword back and Nikolaj explains that Jaime refused it for a reason:

“The fact that she tries to give him back the sword Oathkeeper and he kind of says, "It's yours. It's always been yours," the subtext is it's almost like saying, "You keep my heart. It's yours. It's always been yours."”

So, if they’re so into each other, why don’t they act on it?

Well, considering they’re actually rivals – with Jaime being a Lannister and Brienne fighting for the Starks - it's a clear case of star-crossed lovers. Plus, neither Jaime nor Brienne have had a true relationship so far. Brienne suffered from unrequited love, falling for Renly back in season 2, while Jaime has known no other woman but his sister Cersei.

Their reunion last Sunday was filled with subtext, according to Nikolaj. They were indeed happy to see each other, though they clearly didn’t know how to show it. Add to that the huge sexual tension that lingers between them, and you’ll get two people acting awkwardly while trying to seem normal around one another.

“What I love about the scene last night, the set up is brilliant. When Bronn surprises Pod in front of the tent, he says, "So what do you think? Are they f--king in there? Because I know he wants to f--k her. I'm sure she wants to f--k him. So what do you think?"”

Let’s not forget that Brienne has something going on with Tormund as well. All that staring and sexily chewing of meat might as well lead up to some loving, though Jaime has another take on it:

“I think Tormund is more into it than she is -- or maybe I'm getting protective about the Jaime situation. I'm already being jealous on his behalf.”

Between keeping Jaime Lannister's heart, Tomund's hunt of meat and Bronn having a go at her, Brienne of Tarth has way more sway than any lady in Westeros right now - take a bow, Cersei!

Brienne does love Jaime and, mind you, he loves her back!

Game of Thrones episode 9, 'Battle of the Bastards' airs this Sunday, on HBO.
