According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Community and The Martian star Donald Glover is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming Sony superhero film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, directed by Cop Car's Jon Watts.
The role that Glover is in talks for has not yet been revealed but this is surely a casting that will get fans excited.
Back in 2011, Donald Glover fans started a campaign with the hopes of the actor taking up the mantle of Spider-Man. Fans had hoped that Sony would give Peter Parker a rest and shine some light on the character of Miles Morales who fans hoped to see Glover portray. Glover voiced the character on the Disney XD show, Ultimate Spider-Man.
When a reboot of the classic Marvel character was announced back in 2015, fans again went crazy for the idea of Glover taking on the role but many deemed the actor too old for the part. Now with Tom Holland (Captain America: Civil War) in the lead as a teenage Peter Parker, it is unlikely that we'll see Glover swinging around New York City.
Donald Glover joins an already impressive cast; Tom Holland, Michael Keaton (Birdman), Marisa Tomei (Captain America: Civil War), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Kenneth Choi (The Wolf Of Wall Street) and Robert Downey Jr (Captain America: Civil War).
Marvel Studios have partnered with Sony for this reboot of the popular character. This brand new interpretation of the character can be seen in Captain America: Civil War, still in theaters.
