After the huge success of James Wan's The Conjuring 2 this past week, The Hollywood Reporter reports that New Line Cinema are developing a spin off film titled The Nun which will be set around the villainous demon, Valek, from the horror sequel.
The Nun, which plays a large part in The Conjuring 2 wasn't actually part of the original cut for the film. The character actually became part of the film during re-shoots which took place just three months before the films release.
The Nun will be the second spin off from the Conjuring series, following 2014's Annabelle which proved to be a hit at the Box Office despite poor reviews. Annabelle 2 is slated for a 2017 release.
David Leslie Johnson, who co-wrote The Conjuring 2 with the Hayes brothers will write The Nun with James Wan and Peter Safran producing.
The Nun played a large and integral role in the story of The Conjuring 2 and was actually one of the scariest elements of the film, although I'm not a fan of the title of the spin off, this could work out well for New Line. The Conjuring 2 opened at #1 at the domestic box office with $40 Million.
