The news is spreading like wild fire and Tyler Hoechlin's star is about to rise very quickly. You may be a big fan of his or this could be your first time hearing his name, but you'll soon be on board with the latest casting choice to play Superman in The CW's Supergirl Season 2.

Tyler Hoechlin is well known for his recent role in the MTV show Teen Wolf, but the 28-year old actor has been acting for a long time and has many more acting credits to his name. He is an up and coming actor that could steal the show as Clark Kent and give Henry Cavill a run for his money.

Hoechlin had been balancing baseball and acting since he was nine years-old and was a talented baseball player for Arizona State University and then later UC-Irvine. As his baseball career continued he eventually realized that he was going to have to either give up acting or give up baseball.

While at UC-Irvine he injured himself and it made the decision a lot easier for him. He told ESPN:

"It was like an answered prayer. It was like the decision was made for me, I wasn't going to quit until someone told me to stop."

Still, he got the best of both worlds when he starred in Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some!!

His character on Teen Wolf, Derek Hale, plays a major role in the show's story and it's not always as the hero. The character is very dark and brooding and could probably even be classified as more of an anti-hero.

The fact that he has been cast in such a different role speaks volumes to the range that the Supergirl team believe Tyler Hoechlin possesses.

Tyler Hoechlin was the first actor rumored to play Batman in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice

Before Ben Affleck was cast as Batman and news was made about Bruce Wayne being portrayed by an older actor, Hoechlin was apparently heavily considered for the role.
