The release of the highly anticipated and discussed Suicide Squad is fast approaching. This movie will be the follow-up to DC's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that didn't do as hot as many believed it would. It looks like Suicide Squad might be a little different as it's had more positive buzz than Batman v Superman. It all seems to be from the edginess that it looks to bring, in addition to pull from characters such as Harley Quinn and the Joker, whom fans can't wait to see on screen. All of those factors seem to be pointing to a pretty huge success, but there might be another key point to the film: the soundtrack.
Yes, a soundtrack can either make or break a movie and, when done right, you can have an instant classic. We have heard many different superhero soundtracks before but it looks like Suicide Squad's might be a bit different than the rest. The official track list for the soundtrack came out today — in addition to images of soon-to-be-released figurines — and, let me tell you, it's a huge one. The soundtrack is set to include many artists including Eminem, Rick Ross, Skrillex, twenty one pilots and many more! The list is below, so you can check it out for yourself:
1. Purple Lamborghini – Skrillex & Rick Ross
2. Sucker For Pain – Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons (with Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors)
3. Heathens – twenty one pilots
4. Standing In The Rain – Action Bronson & Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) (feat. Mark Ronson)
5. Gangsta – Kehlani
6. Know Better – Kevin Gates
7. You Don’t Own Me – Grace (feat. G-Eazy)
8. Without Me – Eminem
9. Wreak Havoc – Skylar Grey
10. Medieval Warfare – Grimes
11. Bohemian Rhapsody – Panic! At The Disco
12. Slippin’ Into Darkness – War
13. Fortunate Son – Creedence Clearwater Revival
14. I Started a Joke – ConfidentialMX (feat. Becky Hanson)
I know, that's a pretty impressive soundtrack and it really does fit in with the tone and feel we have been getting from the movie. It looks like the soundtrack will be one of the best, if not the best, from comic book movies so far. The soundtrack is similar to the one from Guardians of the Galaxy in that it uses popular singles as opposed to originally composed music. I truly think Suicide Squad needs a soundtrack like this that totally fits with the mood of the film. It looks like the "Purple Lamborghini" song that was being rumored to feature in Suicide Squad is, in fact, one of the tracks we will hear in the movie.
The soundtrack is very diverse, just like the Squad themselves, so I'm pretty excited to get to listen to it once it's out. It is currently available for pre-order on Amazon and will be released simultaneously with the film.
There is so much to look forward to from this film, from what we've seen from the trailers alone, and now we have an epic soundtrack attached as well. I'm pretty sure this album will be just as popular as the movie upon release. In the meantime, check out the Suicide Squad trailer again, which does contain the "I Started a Joke" track that is on the soundtrack as well.
