Boyega specifically visited the Eltham Hospice, where children up to the age of 19 reside. Demelza Hospice Care provides help with medical needs and support for babies, children, and teenagers with serious illnesses across East Sussex, Kent and South East London. Their motto is: "Helping those who may not live a long life, to live a full life."
In a video that Demelza posted, you can see him walk around, introduce himself, make conversation, share some laughs, take some pictures, and even help a Stormtrooper with a serious Star Wars-related matter: bowling. Because who doesn't want to learn bowling from a cast member of the epic franchise?
John spent some time with the children, their families, and staff workers who were dressed up in Star Wars gear. Correction: Finn spent some time with lightsaber-equipped mini Stormtroopers, young Jedis, and little Darth Vaders. This clip is absolutely heart-warming, and to add on to it is the fact that this isn't the first time Boyega's done this sort of thing.
Last March, the actor dressed up in character and stopped by the Royal London Hospital. He visited many children there, such as Daniel — a boy battling brain cancer. Daniel got so excited that he wanted all of the other kids to meet Finn. Boyega not only met all of his friends, but he was extremely grateful to do so:
"Really thankful for the opportunity this child granted me and I'm just humbled! I hope I played a little part in making you smile, young stormtrooper."
He may be a part of Star Wars, but there is nothing but love in this star. Bless you, John Boyega, along with Demelza Hospice Care and all their children. Keep spreading the love and Star Wars!
