Next year, Warner Bros. and DC will make history by giving us the first installment of Justice League. Like the Avengers for Marvel, the DC universe revolves around this team of superheroes. With a loyal fanbase, fans have been clamoring for a live-action version of the team for a while. Now that we are finally getting one, Zack Snyder and the executives at Warner Bros. have a chance to truly fulfill our childhood dreams.
Such a big blockbuster requires a great group of characters and the following list shows five of them that we could see, beyond the ones that have already been confirmed.
5. Lex Luthor
I do believe that Lex will be in this next movie. The reason why he is at No. 5 is because it is almost certain he will appear, although still not set in stone. However, I doubt Lex will be as integral to the plot as a villain should be, since he will not be the primary villain for the League. I believe he could escape from prison as a subplot, or perhaps be the one who lures the Big Bad to Earth. Some are particularly behind this theory, since that was alluded to during the prison scene in Batman v Superman, which you can see below:
4. Martian Manhunter
The Martian Manhunter has been a staple Justice League character for many years. To have a movie without him, well, in my eyes it would be a tragedy. Remember, this would not have been the first time that a studio went out of its way to hide a superhero: Spider-Man in Civil War, and Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse are classic examples. With that being said, his role could be anything from a cameo to being an integral part of the plot. When William Defoe was cast, one of the few parts that fans speculated he could play was this one, since he was merely described as a "good guy."
3. Ocean Master
Recent reports have been surging in about this character. If you don't want to know what they are, skim over this next part.
He is described as the villain of the first movie!
Whether that is true or not, I would expect him to be in the movie in some small capacity. He might even start out his time in Justice League before his character becomes Ocean Master, when he is just the brother of the King of Atlantis. They could save Ocean Master for when the Aquaman movie comes out.
2. Green Lantern
If the Martian Manhunter deserves to be in this movie, the Green Lantern (whether he be Hal Jordan or John Stewart) definitely deserves it. The confusing part about all of this is that when the initial promo poster came out for Aquaman, it had the words "Unite the Seven" on it, however there are only six heroes so far. This is why I believe that DC is pulling a bait and switch and will wow us with the casting of a new Green Lantern, completing the seven. On the topic of GL, a report came in a few days ago about the matter. Don't click the spoiler button if you don't want to know!
According to the reports, the Green Lantern will appear at the end of the movie in a cameo-type scene. Whether this is true or not, I cannot confirm, since there was no evidence stated with the claim.
1. The Joker
Jared Leto's Joker had a similar arc to Ben Affleck's Batman. When audiences initially heard about the casting they hated it; and the initial reveal was met again with hatred. However, the trailers changed minds and people got behind both the characters. Joker will make his debut in Suicide Squad this August, and hopefully Batman will have a short cameo so we can at least see the Joker and Batman interact before the Ben Affleck-led solo movie.
