Have you ever been sitting at home watching Jaws and thinking, "This movie would be even better if I were watching it in a lake"? First of all - what the hell are you thinking? That's the beginning of a horror movie if ever I heard one!
Regardless, now is your chance to make that crazy dream come true!
From June 23rd to July 4th, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema — which most recently brought you the Alien Day 426 double feature — will now bring you Jaws On The Water!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... our JAWS ON THE WATER screenings are back. And they're bigger, better, and bite-ier than ever!
If you are lucky enough to live in or near Del Valle, Texas, then you have the chance to join in this Amity Island beach party as viewers will be able to watch Jaws floating on an awesome Alamo Shark Tube, free with every ticket purchased!
But if tempting fate isn't your scene, there is plenty of safe, dry land to watch the movie on. There will also be activities, a pop-up shop, food trucks and a beer garden available on site.
If you are not familiar with the movie — what rock have you been living under? — it's the 1975 film that made people afraid of the water, gave the world one of the best known themes in cinematic history (who doesn't hear that music in their head every time they go in the water!) and one of the best known quotes in movie history!
Based on the book by Peter Benchley, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw, Jaws is about a huge great white shark that terrorizes the small island of Amity, we're talking in the water here people, not flying around in tornadoes! So stay out of the water, there's no Ian Ziering here to save you!!! (If you want to see what the cast looks like now, head over here!)
Tickets and more information can be found here!
If you have the chance to go, just let it be known that I am EXTREMELY jealous! Australia needs to get on this bandwagon and start doing awesome things like this!
If you're sufficiently terrified just by the thought of watching Jaws while submerged in water, lighten the mood again with these Jaws parody posters — and brush up on your Jaws trivia while you're at it.
Would you go to a screening of Jaws on the open water?
