Ever since 2013, since the advent of ABC's- Agents of SHIELD, which garnered much positive response from the audience, Marvel has been expanding into the TV side of the world with the help of Netflix along with ABC. While the production budget for each show may be much lower than the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the longer duration of the shows give the producers plenty of space for character development and equally more powerful action sequences- particularly more awesome when shot within confined spaces. Here are TV Marvel's TOP 10 hand-to-hand combatants who kick-ass-
1. Melinda May aka The Cavalry- Agents of SHIELD
An extremely intelligent woman and second-in-command to Coulson, May is a skilled pilot and an extremely skilled martial artist. She became a legend early in her time on field and was nicknamed 'The Cavalry'. A tragic experience while on a mission in Bahrain to contact an unregistered gifted individual left May emotionally scarred and caused her to become the rigid, somewhat withdrawn person she is today.
2. R Giyera- Agents of SHIELD
"Before the ATCU, Giyera spent years in special ops, he's dangerous without powers."- Phil Coulson.
R. Giyera was a HYDRA operative whose Inhuman abilities of telekinesis were unlocked through HYDRA's experiments with the Terrigen Mist. But as Coulson said, Giyera's powerful enough without his telekinesis and an excellent martial artist. Earlier, he had served in the United States Maine Corps.
3. Dorothy 'Dottie' Underwood- Agent Carter
Agent Carter's nemesis and trained in the Red Room Academy as a soviet assassin, Dottie Underwood is as dangerous as her modern day avatar- Natasha Romanoff. That should about sum her up. If not-
"I've pulled out my own teeth...my own nails...my own hair. I've burned my own flesh with a blowtorch. I'm no Nazi harlot. And you are wasting my time."
4. Stick- Daredevil
Stick was born blind, but was able to overcome his disability to become a powerful and dangerous warrior. He was recruited by the Chaste and dedicated his life to fighting a centuries old war against the Hand, focusing much of his efforts on recruiting and training new soldiers into the Chaste's army. If you loved him on Daredevil, you must read Frank Miller's Daredevil: Born Again.
5. Nobu Yoshioka-Daredevil
A martial artist and acrobat, a member of The Hand, Nobu is as trained as Daredevil. The dude was undefeated by Elektra and has been resurrected once (from what we have seen) but may have lived and died several times before, according to what she has heard about him.
6. Wilson Grant Fisk aka Kingpin- Daredevil
Do not mistake Fisk's size with fat. That dude is pure muscle and of brute physical strength due to his immense size. Call him fat, but that doesn't make him soft. His bull-like strength allows him to lift a grown man with a single hand. He could be compared to a very much toned down version of The Mountain from Game of Thrones.
7. Jessica Jones
Although the fight sequences of Jessica Jones could be called a little bit on the lazier side, it doesn't diminish the fact that Jessica Jones could crush Fisk's head with one hand using her superhuman strength and combat skills.
8. Elektra Natchios- Daredevil
Imagine a Black Widow, trained by The Hand, and by Stick, who is also a master of Sai fighting. That's Elektra for you. She is skilled in every Martial Art that there is. She has been able to overpower thugs, Yakuza members, Stick and Daredevil himself.
9. Frank Castle aka The Punisher
Punisher is an ex-marine with years of experience and with enough skill to hold his own against Daredevil and nine prisoners in a confined space. The only person to match this has been Captain America and Daredevil himself.
10. Matt Murdock aka Daredevil
An accident that left him blind, but with heightened faculties of sense of smell, hearing, touch and taste. This guy is trained in Muay Thai, grounding-and-pounding, Kung Fu, Judo, Aikido, Capoeira, Taekwondo, Escrima, tricking, pro-wrestling and staff mastery. He was able to take down eight Russian hit-men while down on his wounds, with no billion dollar suit. That's finesse for you.
Who would win in a fight among all?
Ah yes, the proverbial question. Who would, indeed? Now, to answer that, would be unfair. I haven't added Luke Cage and Iron Fist in the list. The former because his solo series is yet to be released, and the latter because his series is in pre-production. Once this pair of best-friends are out of their production homes, it will cause a dynamic shift in the list as well as in the entire MCU. Luke Cage- the man with unbreakable skin would be extremely difficult to beat. He resorts to using his strength while fighting, but he is nevertheless a skilled combatant. He uses his strength in fighting against his opponents. In the comic books, an entire building was dropped into him, and yet he survived. What's a mere punch? Pretty soon we will see him in his own series on Netflix. And Iron Fist- the man with the Power of the Dragon. If you have read The Immortal Iron Fist, you know what an amazing show it will be. On one of the issues, the dude fought against the very first Iron-Fist who was trapped in hell, and his horde of monsters. And he still came out alive. He fought them all, but he's still less violent than Deadpool though.
We will have to wait for these two shows to decide or to speculate on who could win on an all out Marvel TV Civil War, without weapons.
