Eddie Redmayne and his wife Hannah Bagshawe announced the birth of their first child yesterday and their brand new baby daughter has been given a beautiful name fit for acting royalty.
Iris Mary Redmayne was born on June 15 and her arrival was announced in typical low-key fashion by her proud parents in a British newspaper, The Times.
Although Eddie and Hannah generally shun the spotlight in terms of their personal life, the pair have also made a short announcement to the press about the birth. A rep for the couple released a statement that simply reads:
"I can confirm that Eddie and Hannah Redmayne have welcomed their first child."
The fact that the new arrival is a baby girl will be just as much of a surprise for Redmayne and Bagshawe as it is for us outsiders. The 34-year-old actor previously told Extra that they were waiting for the birth to find out the sex of their child. He explained:
"It’s gonna be a surprise. I was like, 'Maybe we should find out' (and) my wife’s like, 'We’re not finding out.' She wears the trousers. It's one of the great surprises that still exists in the world."
Luckily the filming of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has wrapped now so Eddie will have plenty of time to spend with his daughter.
Congratulations to the new parents!
Do you think Eddie and Hannah chose a good name for their daughter?
