Whilst promoting Ghostbsusters, director Paul Feig revealed to Empire Magazine that a sequel to his 2015 action comedy, Spy, is on the way.
Feig told Empire that Melissa McCarthy is expected to return as analyst turned spy Susan Cooper and Jason Statham will also return as the egotistical Rick Ford, the absolute standout character of the first film.
Statham's idiotic, clumsy and 'up his own arse' CIA agent was the funniest thing about Feig's 2015 comedy, and for the fans who are wondering whether Ford will be any wiser in the second film; "Will he get any more self-aware in the sequel? No, god no. He’ll get less self-aware.” Feig told Empire.
Spy centered on desk bound CIA agent Susan Cooper, who must go out into the field after all other agents identities are revealed. Statham plays her rival agent, Rick Ford, who believes he can still get the job done even with his identity known to the enemy. Jude Law, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale also starred but it is unknown whether any of the three will return.
Paul Feig's Ghostbusters which also stars Melissa McCarthy hits theaters on July 15th.
