Filming is currently underway for Ridley Scott's upcoming sequel to Prometheus, Alien: Covenant, and it looks as though Ridley is attempting to sneak in another cast member from his original prequel to Alien. The actress, who was previously announced as being unattached to the film, is none other than.....
That's right, Elizabeth Shaw, played to perfection by Noomi Rapace, has been spotted near the set and will reportedly be there to film a week's worth of scenes for the upcoming sci-fi epic. In the past, Scott has stated that Rapace's involvement was near unlikely due to the structure and plot of the new film. With her being so close to the set, it's looking as though that is thankfully no longer the case. One thing I absolutely cannot stand, is unfinished or ignored plotlines in sequels. Even though not all audience members grew attached to Shaw, it's still expected at least to give the character a proper and meaningful send-off.
Rapace will join Alien: Covenant stars Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride and Demian Bichir, with Michael Fassbender also returning as the android, David.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Covenant is currently slated to open in theaters on August 4, 2017.
