Not content with life as Watchmen's Comedian, or his blink-and-you'll-miss-it role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it looks like Jeffrey Dean Morgan wants to once again return to the world of superheroes. Jeffrey is certainly no stranger to dark comic book adaptations, but could The Walking Dead actor be the next man to slip on the cape and cowl of the Dark Knight? Don't worry, Ben Affleck isn't going anywhere yet, but Dean Morgan has expressed interest in reprising his role as Thomas Wayne if there were ever a Flashpoint movie!

The 2011 crossover story arc united several of DC's biggest heroes for a dark timeline created by Reverse Flash. Flashpoint has already been adapted into the superb Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, with many hailing it one of DC's best animated films. That was back in 2013, and up until now, the Flashpoint front has been rather quiet. The third season of CW's television series of The Flash may be picking up the storyline for this year's premiere, but the iconic tale has been conspicuously absent from the cinematic world. That may be about to change if Jeffrey Dean Morgan gets his way. At Denver Comic Con, the actor told the audience:

Man, I would love to play that Batman… It would be very cool. Flashpoint would be very cool.

If J.D.M. were to play Thomas Wayne again, we can think of no one better for the hardened version of Batman. After surviving the infamous attack in the alleyway, Thomas Wayne takes on the mantle of Batman in a dystopian future of Gotham. Not adverse to gun violence, Thomas Wayne has brought gambling into the city, whilst taking on the crime that curses it. A decidedly darker path means that unlike his pacifist son, Thomas Wayne has killed several of the Batman rogues gallery, including Killer Croc, Scarecrow, and Poison Ivy. Whilst this isn't a patch on swinging barbed-wire bats at people's heads, the Negan actor certainly has the look of a gritty Thomas Wayne.

What about everyone else?

All well and good with ifs and maybes, but the most tantalising part about having Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprise his role as Bruce Wayne's father, would be the added addition of Martha Wayne. Lauren Cohan played the Wayne matriarch in BvS, so imagine a full The Walking Dead reunion, with her in tow too! In Flashpoint both Wayne parents survive, and it is Bruce who is gunned down by Joe Chill. Driven mad, Martha disfigures her face and takes on the Joker persona. Think Harley Quinn on acid - Martha kidnaps Harvey Dent's children, then slashes Jim Gordon's throat, before falling to her demise under Wayne Manor. Our next version of the Joker will be Jared Leto's Suicide Squad take, but with talks of a female 007, isn't about time a lady Joker gets a shot too?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan's time on Batman v Superman may have been short, with the actor apparently asking his old buddy Zack Snyder for a larger role in the DCEU. Given that the Waynes are the most killed characters in cinematic history (apart from maybe poor Uncle Ben), there isn't much room for manoeuvre here. Personally, I think J.D.M. could work for either a small screen, or a big screen, Flashpoint. The scope of Flashpoint in cinemas could be huge...better get pitching Zack!
