Jamie Chung joined the cast of Gotham yesterday as Valerie Vale for its third season. And it seems like yet another actress is set to join the ever-expanding roster of Gotham. Former Miss Vermont Teen, Maggie Geha has been cast to play Poison Ivy on the show.
Ivy Pepper a.k.a. Poison Ivy was previously played by Clare Foley on the show. But last week, we learnt that Gotham is looking to recast for Poison Ivy's role for "an actress in her late teens to assume the now-series regular role of the would-be eco-terrorist."
Clare Foley is only 14 years old. However, Maggie Geha is 28 years old. She is definitely not an actress in her late teens. This casting makes things interesting. One of the two only plausible ways they could explain how a character is being played by an actress who's double the age of the previous actress, is by a possible time-jump. Could we be flashforwarding into the future in season 3 on Gotham? If that's the case the actors who play Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle would have to be recast. The other way they could possibly explain the age difference is by making her Pamela Isley on the show.
Clare Foley wasn't a series regular. She kept making recurring appearances on the show. But, unlike Clare, Maggie Geha will be a series regular. This means we'll be getting a lot more of Poison Ivy in season 3. It's a shame really that such a talented young actress like Clare, who has previously showed off her acting skills in Sinister, didn't get to do much with such an iconic role from DC Universe. It would be really interesting to see what Maggie Geha does with the role.
We'll have to wait for another three months before we get to see Maggie Geha in action as the new Poison Ivy. Gotham will return with its third season on September 19th on Fox.
