From the moment we're born, we're grouped. As babies, we become part of percentiles. Later, we learn how to make little wooden race cars and sell extremely delicious cookies in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Let's not even begin with all the clubs in high school and college.

What do all those clubs have in common? For the most part, people who are in them enjoy joining, and actually want to be a part of them. One club someone never wants to be a part of, however, is The 27 Club, otherwise known as The Forever 27 Club, or Club 27, if you're a hip little hipster.

Long story short, Club 27 is an ever-growing group of celebrities who all died at the age of 27. Musicians make up most of it, and they've been joined by actors and actresses (the only actress being a pornographic actress, but still). I've even included a baseball player, soccer player and English physicist for good measure.

Here are some of the additions to the club roster over the years, with the most recent entry being Chekov:

1. Joseph Merrick (August 5, 1862 – April 11, 1890)

Joseph is possibly the first “celebrity” on the list.

I realize this list is much longer than 20; it appears to be over 50 strong as of right now. Obviously, we all hope Club 27 doesn't grow, but with so many celebrities and musicians among us, and so many of them enjoying life a little too much at times, it's only destined to get bigger. So, anyone who qualifies as a celebrity, if you're reading this, here's a message from your fans: Slow down and be careful! Please, don't join Club 27, Club 48, or any other club any time soon!
