In a new interview with People magazine, 46-year-old Matthew McConaughey dishes about the first time he met his wife, the stunning Brazilian-American model and designer Camila Alves, and how he knew right away that she was the one:
"As I was trying to get [her] attention across the room, I went in my head, 'This is not the kind of woman you call over across the room, McConaughey. Get your ass out of the chair and go get her.' Which I did."
Then he shared this snippet of sound advice for any guys looking to attract a lady's attention at a party:
"So I went over and asked her and her friends to come sit down. Which is a thing every man should know, invite the friends because that way they'll come on their own. Which she did."
As anyone who's ever dabbled with a foreign language can attest, talking to the most beautiful girl in the room gave McConaughey enough confidence and determination to start comprehend romance languages:
"She spoke Portuguese over the loud music and I understood Portuguese better that I've understood it in nine years of dating. I also spoke the best Spanish that I've ever spoken, which was close enough to Portuguese that night to be the international language of love."
The way he describes her as the perfect blend of confidence and humility is enough to assure you that these two are going to go the distance:
"I was not looking for anything, I was happily single... But we met, and the self-respect she had, the way I understood her and her relationship with family, the way she respected me but never took anything for granted, not putting on any airs whatsoever... We went on our first date three nights later and I knew then… I've been wanting to go on a date with her for the last nine years and not with anybody else.
The blissful couple wasted no time starting a family, and now has two sons, Levi, 7, and Livingston, 3, and a little girl, Vida, 6:
"We had two of our children before she handed me the invitation to our wedding."
How sweet is Matthew McConaughey's story of meeting Camila? How did you meet your TL?
