Katherine Heigl announced that she was pregnant with her first biological child - a little baby boy - yesterday and while many of her fans were surprised, so was the mother-to-be herself.
The 37-year-old star is clearly super excited about the prospect of the new arrival and she has been sharing loads of information with us mere mortals. She explained:
"It was totally unexpected but thrilling. The whole pregnancy thing is new to me but the thrill of having a baby is not."
Along with sharing her feelings about her pregnancy, Heigl also shared some deeply personal images on Instagram and Twitter to illustrate her journey.
Heigl and her husband of eight years, Josh Kelly, aren't the only ones who are delighted with the news though. Their adopted children Naleigh and Adalaide were also thrilled with the news, Heigl wrote that:
"Naleigh and Adalaide are over the moon and [cannot] wait to spoil their new sibling rotten"
While the family have always been planning to have more children, the adoption advocates were unclear at how it would unravel and she made it clear she had no preference of how a new baby arrived in her life, she said:
"We were considering adoption again, fostering, or pregnancy if possible. Seeing as I have never been pregnant and as my OB/GYN reminded me last year, I’m of advanced maternal age, I wasn’t sure pregnancy was even in the cards for us. Turns out it was very much in the cards."
Heigl has already began blogging extensively about her pregnancy journey and she also wrote in a personal post that:
“This is truly an amazingly blessed time, waiting for the child you’ve been dreaming of to make their appearance. Though I’ve never been a particularly patient person, my experience of waiting for Naleigh taught me a lot in that department. So I will wait and eagerly anticipate, hopefully with grace, gratitude and a good attitude (ummm pregnancy hormones are real people)"
