Playing an already-established and iconic character may be the role of a lifetime, however in a recent article, Ewan McGregor has talked a little about the downside of portraying Obi Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel films.

In an interview with Parade magazine, McGregor explained that although he's very pleased to have been part of the Star Wars franchise he doesn't really understand the "fanaticism" surrounding it. He also talks about how he has been asked about doing another Star Wars film so much by fans, it has ended up with him looking like he's pushing Disney to make an Obi Wan-centric film. He told Parade:

"I like the films that I made with George Lucas and I’m happy to be part of the legend of it all, but that’s it with me. I don’t really understand the fanaticism about it. I’m asked by everybody all the time, ‘Would you do another one?’ and I’ve said, ‘Yeah, I’d be happy to,’ because I think there’s a film between Episode 3 and Episode 4, which is when Alec Guinness is in the desert. But I’ve been asked about it so much now that I’m being criticized for trying to persuade Disney to make this movie. I only responded to people asking me about it, and now it looks like I’m sort of looking for work, which is humiliating. I couldn’t care less if it happens, but when Star Wars people ask me if I would do it, the answer is yes, so that’s how I feel about it."

Obviously it would be amazing to have a standalone Kenobi film, and McGregor is totally onboard to do one, but the real message here seems to be for the love of the force, please stop pestering the poor man about it! Between his upcoming roles in Fargo Season 3, Trainspotting 2 and Beauty and the Beast it seems like he has more than enough to be worrying about without backlash for supposedly pushing Disney to make another Obi Wan appearance.

But still the question remains:

Would you watch a Obi-Wan solo film?

Obi-Wan is already preppin' for it
