This past season has been one of the best in the span of the Game of Thrones series. There were some major characters that were killed off this year and some that paid an awful price. Most importantly, this year has shown some serious acting skills from the cast and I have chosen a small group of cast members to talk about and get to know. I was surprised at what I found out about these excellent men and women, and it might shock you a little bit once you find out too. This is one of the many reasons why the cast of Game of Thrones is always so awesome. There is more to these people than their lives in the world of Westeros!
1. Ramsay Bolton - Iwan Rheon
Ramsay Bolton had to have been one of the most hated characters in the Game of Thrones universe, but Iwan Rheon is really cool. The 31-year-old Welsh native actually dabbles in music. Having graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Iwan has blessed the music world with his brand of tunes. We're not going to miss Ramsay, but we hope to see Iwan Rheon soon once again.
2. Septa Unella - Hannah Waddingham
I don't think anyone ever imagined that underneath the scowl of Septa "Shame" Unella, there would be a beauty like Hannah Waddingham. The 41-year-old London native is an exceptional performer on the theater stage, having earned three Oliver Nominations for her work. She also has the voice of an angel, as Hannah is also a recognized singer.
3. Osha - Natalia Tena
We said goodbye to one of our favorite Wildlings this year, as Osha was killed by Ramsay Bolton when she was captured with poor Rickon. Although the world of Westeros will miss Osha, there is no question that we will see Nat Tena once again. Harry Potter fans will recognize her as Nymphadora Tonks, and she is very well known in the UK. She currently stars as Emma Oliver on BBC Worldwide's The Refugees, a show about 3 billion people in the future trying to escape a worldwide disaster coming by traveling to the past to seek shelter.
4. Loras Tyrell - Finn Jones
Loras, oh poor, poor Loras. He always found himself on the losing side and in the end he paid for it brutally before he was killed in the grand explosion in the Sept. Yet, once one chapter ends and another begins for Finn Jones. He is going to play Danny Rand in Marvel's Iron Fist next year.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly he discussed his thoughts on the character:
"I really enjoy how he’s a superhero with a real heart but has spiritual elements as well. I think it’s going to be an exciting character to play because there’s this contraction of on one hand he’s from a very wealthy family, he’s a billionaire, on the other hand he’s been in this world of K’un-Lun for a long time where he’s learned kung fu and buddhist philosophy. There’s a contradiction in those elements that’s going to be really fun to play."
Check out Finn Jones as Iron Fist on the first day of filming!
5. Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun - Ian Whyte
I think it's fair to say that we all felt sad when Wun Wun, possibly the last giant in Westeros, was killed while trying to free Winterfell from the grip of Ramsay Bolton. Yet, it most definitely won't be the last we see of the actor. Ian Whyte, a former basketball athlete played the first version of Sir Gregor Clegane, and then played a White Walker. Ian's also played some memorable characters over the years in makeup: He's been a Predator in Alien versus Predator, and AVP: Requiem, and the Last Engineer in Prometheus.
