Spider-Man: Homecoming is still about a year away from its planned July 2017 release date, and yet we've already gotten a ton of incredible updates on the film! First off, we know that the premise will have something to do with a teenage Peter Parker struggling to deal with high-school, his normal life, and his crime-fighting life.
We know that Tom Holland will reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man from Captain America: Civil War, joined by Marvel alumni Marisa Tomei (Aunt May) and Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark). We've also gotten some details on the film's villains, of which there will apparently be three, portrayed by Michael Keaton, Logan Marshall-Green, and Bokeem Woodbine.
Speaking of casting additions, Marvel has quickly been adding more and more actors and actresses to the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming ever since they announced it. Some of them have been EXTREMELY interesting, while others have just been to fill the cast list for the movie. Well, two more additions to the cast have been revealed, and whilst their significance in the film is yet to be revealed, they're still worth mentioning—if for nothing else than getting hyped for the upcoming Spider-Man film even more!
Garcelle Beauvais is a Haitian-American actress, and the current host of Hollywood Today Live. Beauvais has appeared on The Jamie Foxx Show and Franklin and Bash. However, she's perhaps best know for her role as Valerie Heywood on the hit ABC show NYPD Blue.
Garcelle Beauvais' role has yet to be officially announced, but she's apparently been seen on set dressed as a teacher. This likely means she'll be showing up in a lot of Peter Parker scenes, as opposed to Spider-Man scenes.
Tiffany Espensen is a television actress, with credits ranging from the Nickelodeon series Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures, to R.L. Stine's Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls. Espensen also has a starring role in the Disney XD series Kirby Buckets, as well as guest roles in Phineas and Ferb, Zeke and Luther, and Good Luck Charlie.
As you can probably tell, Tiffany Espensen has a long history with Disney, something she shares with fellow Spider-Man: Homecoming cast member, Zendaya. Hey, once a Disney kid, always a Disney kid, right? Espensen's role hasn't been specified either, but she'll likely be playing another one of Peter Parker's classmates.
Like I said earlier, these two are just the latest in a ton of recent casting additions. It seems that Marvel is trying to round up Peter Parker's classmates as quickly as possible, as most of the casting choices have actors in their teens or early 20s who will likely be going to the same school as our titular hero. Since there have been so many casting additions, here's a quick round of up of Spidey's 'Class of 2017'!
Tony Revolori has been in cult films such as Dope and The Grand Budapest Hotel (seen above), as well as films like The 5th Wave and The Perfect Wave. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Revolori will portray Manuel, a classmate and rival of Peter Parker.
Zendaya is known for her roles on the Disney Channel original series, Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover, as well as the Disney Channel Original Movie Zapped. She's also a musician and professional dancer, appearing in Season 16 of Dancing with the Stars. Zendaya will be portraying Michelle, a possible love-interest for Peter Parker.
Isabella Amara is an actress and vocalist who has appeared in several films, such as Joyful Noise, Barely Lethal, and The Boss, in which she got the no doubt hilarious role of a young Melissa McCarthy!
Perhaps one of the youngest addition to the Spider-Man: Homecoming cast, JJ Totah (no relation to that guy who wants pictures of Spider-Man) had roles in the Disney Channel show Jessie, and the last season of Glee. As you can probably guess from the latter, he's a pretty good singer!
Spider-Man: Homecoming will actually be Jonah Bowling's first big project, previously appearing in short films and web series, such as Maid to Order.
Michael Barbieri is just starting his acting career, but he's already gotten some pretty incredible credits under his belt. There's (obviously) Spider-Man: Homecoming, and then there's roles in Little Men and the upcoming film adaption of Stephen King's The Dark Tower!
Another very young addition to the cast, Abraham Attach is joining Spider-Man: Homecoming, in a role that many believe will be Miles Morales, another character to use the Spider-Man name.
Attah received critical acclaim for his role in Beasts of No Nation, his first role ever. He won several awards for the role, and the success of the movie skyrocketed his career!
These roles may not seem very big now, but with Spider-Man: Homecoming still a year away, we simply don't know what Garcelle Beauvais and Tiffany Espensen will be up to in the movie yet. But even if they are small roles, it's still interesting to see who Marvel is choosing to join their ranks for what's sure to be one of the most epic Spidey adventures to grace our screens!
