It seems it's not just her hands that she can't keep to herself - The 4th of July weekend saw Selena Gomez host her very own patriotic party to rival BFF Taylor Swift's celebrations. Despite a star-spangled bash, it looks like not everything is bigger in #Taymerica and Gomez has her own squad goals!
Taylor Swift and new bae Tom Hiddleston partied it up in Rhode Island, with stars like Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne, as well as Orange Is the New Black's Uzo Aduba and Ruby Rose all attending. Noticeably absent was Gomez, who had her own "Fireworks" in a swanky poolside villa!
On Instagram, Gomez posted several videos from her party, firstly captioned "hostess vibes" as her booty paraded down a corridor to Drake and DJ Khaled’s “For Free”. The Barney & Friends star then dived into a pool - maybe she is auditioning to star in one of the rapper's next videos? More interesting though was Gomez's absence from Swift's party being coupled with a rather 'controversial' song choice.
Selena's Snapchat showed bikini clad babes singing Katy Perry's "Firework" in what looks like the early hours. Whilst "Firework" may be a patriotic salute to the day, it could also be hinting at trouble in paradise for 'Taylena'. Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have been all too vocal about their differences in the press. Whilst Taylor Swift has slammed rumours that her song "Bad Blood" is actually about Katy Perry, we aren't too convinced. Swift is well know to write songs about those who have been influential in her life....in particular her pesky boy troubles!
Gomez and Perry sparked their own theories of conflict when Gomez was spotted with Perry's alleged boyfriend Orlando Bloom back in May. Despite the media to be quick to jump on the bandwagon of yet another 'Perry vs.' strife, both singers were quick to shut down the issue on Twitter.
Could Gomez be the latest to stir up "Bad Blood" with Swifty, or is it all fun and games? They say that on social media everything means something, but whilst currently on the road for her Revival tour, we can forgive 23-year-old Gomez for her absence from Taylor's celebrations. This also wouldn't be the first time the Disney protege has R.S.V.P'ed 'No' to Taylor Swift, missing out on both the 2014 and 2015 celebrations. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and the past hasn't stopped the pair being bosom buddies. Whilst Swift and Perry will continue to be frenemies, we are pretty sure that Gomez's friendship with the "Blank Space" singer won't "Slow Down" anytime soon!
