Disney's retelling of its animated classics in a live-action format is going strong. With successes such as Cinderella and The Jungle Book, this Disney movies trend looks to be one that is not slowing down anytime soon.

The next film bringing this concept to the silver screen is based on one of Disney's most cherished films — Beauty and the Beast. Directed by Bill Condon, this reimagining is set to bring the 1991 animated legend to life through music and a major ensemble cast including Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Stanley Tucci, Kevin Kline and Emma Thompson.

There is still plenty of time before this tale as old as time makes it to theaters, which means that it might be some time before moviegoers see our next glimpse of this upcoming film. Well, perhaps not that long, as Disney has just released the first poster for Beauty and the Beast.

This poster is not surprising in the least. Although I was expecting a different design, that familiar rose seems to be a given. However, much like the film's teaser trailer (see below), this image features a snowy concept that helps establish a tone that is both bleak and beautiful. Along with the vibe, the poster does show some other minor details.

While the rose is as expected, the glass that encases it shows a blend of concepts by mixing a winter element with a spring one. So while there is not much to this poster, this image draws its strength from its simplicity — presenting just the right amount of tease to make for a compelling poster.

There are sure to be many glimpses to come of this reimagining, with the film not hitting the scene until next year. However, just by looking at this new poster — and watching the film's teaser trailer — there may be big things on the horizon for Beauty and the Beast.

Beauty and the Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017.

Are you excited for the next live-action retelling of a Disney classic?
