After the success of the erotic Fifty Shades of Grey literary series, it was a no brainer that the books would soon be eagerly snatched up by a movie studio ready to be made into the raciest film of the year.
Four years later, the controversial film was released and its actors, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, were shot forward from relative obscurity into Hollywood stardom. The film took the box office by storm, raking in over $571 million worldwide.
So considering how popular the books were, and how popular the films would inevitably be, surely the two main stars of the films made an absolute fortune from the film? Well, not exactly.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steel) each made just $250,000 from Fifty Shades of Grey, plus additional tiered box-office bonuses. While this might sound like an enormous amount, bare in mind that starring in the film did in fact require, well, baring it, and apparently the pair have renegotiated for a seven-figure pay day in the sequel film Fifty Shades Darker.
